2/27 Jimmy is absent

Okay, so Jimmy is sick as a dog and doesn't show up. So the class decides do a critique, well Jimmy told us to. It was interesting to say the least. I think the class if very typical of undergrads, they see things they want to and are train to and some times miss the big picture of things. It went well, I kinda stopped my critiques and let them help each other.

2/29 Project #2 Presentation

SO I thought that went pretty well for our group. Our ads looked OK, not great I have to agree, but great concept. WHEEL-ALITY was a hit with Jimmy. Also the psychology behind the imagery and ads were also a hit, I think...:). The class did some interesting work, not all were great, some had a lot of potential, other needed help, typical class. Oh finally got some descent shoes to wear...ha.

3/7 Looking over concepts and briefs

So we had some direction with our concepts, we approached it from the idea of growth. Really want the graphics to look progressive since it's about the graphic design department and program. We have a pretty cool looking poster design, I think, and excited about the project. The technical video making is another story but the concept and design is coming along.  We are approaching it front the perspective of inner growth of the nature man and the technical side as well. Graphic design is more than just art, its has so much to do with language and logics, but we can never ignore the arts. The creativity drives us and the logics holds our ideas in place. Hope that makes sense.

3/12 Reviewing progress

So today we looked over peoples videos, some were good starts, some needed help. Ours was not as good, had some technical difficulty with softwares updates and usage issues.  The weekend went pretty good, went to the AIGA portfolio review. I had been a fan of the speakers company for a while now, MODERN DOG. Robynne was pretty cool and had some fun stuff to say. I will have to write about it.
Hope you peeps are doing well and I won't be in class Wednesday cause I have to go to court. Have a great weekend and I'll see you all at the FINALS!

2/20/12

Today was good, class went over the guest speaker for Gauge. I didn't make it cause I have class on Thursday nights. Sounded interesting, wish I could have made it. Jimmy was able to look over out stuff and as usual tear things apart, with some suggestions. Back to the drawing board.

2/15/12

Okay this class was kinda screwed up. Class ended and 3 teams still didn't meet with Jimmy.  Sorry Jimmy but that was bad, but been there done that. 

2*6*12

Okay, I was really late today. Sorry Jimmy. Hate being late. So things were getting better as for project #1 for most of the class. Ours still needed some copy change. We changed the illustration with the cartoony ad created. Overall it was a productive class. I will try to make it to class on time.

2/1/12 - Digtal Full Size Due

Okay, today our fullsize were due. Everyone posted them up and I was late again. Hate being late! I was surprised at the level of comps that went up on the wall. There were about 50% that were pretty bad. They had concept but the production level was pretty bad. Our wasn't great either but at least we execute them pretty well. So I have to rewrite my copy and work on my image and the the illustration. Patricia will do the illustration and I will produce them. Jimmy can get pretty fiesty.  Peace out!

1/30/12 - checking in

Okay - so we went over revisions and Jimmy wasn't totally disappointed which is a good thing. We finally got our directions so I am excited. So now I have to do a photoshoot and make it happen. Class was casual we just met with Jimster and we spent some time revising and left. He did praise another teams copy writting which always burns you inside cause you want to be the best. Well peace out!

Okay, this class we tough. Jimmy didn't really like any of my headlines, said I needed a lot of help. I thought I did a decent job, crushing. So I will have to rework a lot of my ideas and come up with more new ones. I did like what Jimmy did with one of my mistakes, very clever my friend, very clever!

I'm OUT! Got some MW3 to conquer!!!

1/23/12- MOnday Class

Today, we presented our research for the ad we are doing. Airport fully body scanners is the chosen subject for my partner, Patricia and I. So we looked over some ads that Jimmy and several of the students picked. First ad by Subaru was a stumper for everyone trying to figure out the concept. Jimmy is very particular and wants us to dig deep. Our subject was approved, but Jimmy challenged us about the sides we will be taking on the subject. Oh I was late again. I hate the drive from the valley to the CSULA, it sucks.

1/18/2012 Class

Today we discussed if we had participated in anything socially impactful on Martin Luther King's Birthday. I came to class late cause I'm driving in from the valley which takes so long. I came in on the topic of SOPA, which is Stop Online Priracy Act. It was kinda heated. But overall class was good. I like the way Jimmy get's use to think before we talk, which is something I need to practice. We got our first project today, it's going to be a lot of work...oh boy. Project sounds fun, but the thumbnails does not. Looking forward to producing the ad!

Wednesday's Class Session

So we discussed the ads we brought it. Went over presentation/pitches. Overall it was hard for the students presenting cause it is a new experience for a lot of them. We discussed campaigns. Also 3 adjectives to distinguish one person to another. Went over syllabus.
